How the cytoskeleton controls cell adhesion and coordination during collective migration, and how this is subverted during cancer invasion.

The lab studies how the cytoskeleton is remodeled during collective cell migration, and how these same mechanisms are subverted during cancer invasion. Work in this line uses function-separation mutants and a multi-scale approach — from reconstituted proteins to cellular and in vivo models — combining biochemistry, single-molecule assays, genetics, proteomics, cell biology, live quantitative imaging and super-resolution microscopy.
In-house live-cell imaging (a Leica DMi8 microscope, with up to four-colour multipoint fixed and live imaging) supports this work, including traction-force measurements and immunofluorescence.
